Sydney ATC (Kingsford-Smith) International Airport  ICAO Code  YSSY Known locally as KSA Sydney ATC  (Airservices Australia) is responsible for the Sydney Basin area and consists of the following positions.

“Flow control” sequences the aircraft into Sydney  “Approach North” and “approach South” are responsible for arriving aircraft into Sydney.

“Director East” and “Director West” are responsible for spacing and horizontal separation on final approach to the close parallel runways Rwy 16L/34R and 16R/34L as well as 07/25.

Pilots are required to monitor a separate PARM (Parallel Approach Radar Monitoring) frequency and if minimum horizontal separation is breached, obey the Directors “BREAKOUT” instructions as broadcast.

“Departures North” and “Departures South” are responsible for departures at Sydney “Departures West” is responsible for arrivals and departures at Bankstown

“Approach West” is responsible for the Richmond airspace above 1500ft

“Sydney Tower” is responsible for final clearance to land and take off”

“Sydney Ground” is responsible for taxiway clearances”

“Sydney Radar” responsible for the service provided in class G airspace within 45nm of Sydney.
